Who is Louis Comfort Tiffany?
Louis Comfort Tiffany, a visionary artist of the late 19th and 20th centuries , left an indelible mark on the world of art and design. Renowned for his exceptional talent in stained glass craftsmanship, Tiffany’s artistic genius extended beyond glasswork to encompass various mediums, including jewelry, ceramics, and interior design.
He is the American artist most associated with Art Nouveau and Aesthetic movements.

Marie Selby Gardens in Sarasota
Let us get to know Marie Selby
Marie Selby – also known as Marie Selby Palmer, was an American philanthropist and horticulturist. She was born in 1900 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and later moved to Sarasota Florida. Selby has a deep passion for orchids and dedicated her life to their cultivation and conservation.

As you step into the Tiffany Exhibit Gardens, you are immediately transported into a world where beauty and nature intertwine. The delicate glass work, radiant colors, and intricate designs of Tiffany’s iconic lamps, windows, and decorative objects evoke a sense of awe and admiration.

2. ROOTED IN NATURE
Here lies the iconic Moreton Bay Fig of Marie Selby gardens decorated with more than 1,000 colorful Guzmanias.
As you walk along the path you will see different colorful flowers and plants and here are some of them I captured on my camera.
FLOWERS
The Pursuit of Beauty in Nature is a central theme in the Tiffany Exhibit. Inspired by the botanical wonders found within Marie Selby Gardens. Tiffany’s creations pay homage to the delicate forms of vibrant hues of flowers, plants, and the natural world.
3. SUCCULENTS IN SILHOUETTE
This is the spectrum of colored panels that lines the Succulent Garden near the Hudson Bay on the left.
Walking along the path surrounded by trees, plants, vibrant color panels and glass decors around Marie Selby Gardens is very soothing and relaxing. Make sure you stop by at the Coastal part where you can sit and relax overlooking Sarasota Bay and breathe some fresh air.
4. SUNSET ON PALMS
Three decorative panels that reflects the colors of sunset. First, Bismarck Palm, second, King Alexander Palm, and lastly Areca Palm. As you walk along the path, you will feel the fresh air.
And here comes my favorite..
5. LIVING LAMPSHADE
This extraordinary Gazebo is decorated with an orchid design, references the leaded-glass shades of lamps of Tiffany. At the center of the Gazebo surrounded by colorful flower beds and vibrant glass shades of lamps is a bubbling fountain.

UNFORTUNATELY, I think we missed the 6. Flowing Flower and 7. Tiffany in Glory. If I’m not mistaken after #5 Living Lampshade we went straight back to Selby House Cafe and missed the last 2. Make sure you follow and check your brochure which they giveaway at the entrance so you don’t end up missing anything.
Other than that, visiting the Tiffany Exhibit at Marie Selby Gardens in Sarasota is a beautiful experience. It’s a celebration of art, nature, and the pursuit of beauty that resonates with visitors of all ages.
