Architectural Marvel
The main house of Vizcaya is a stunning example of Mediterranean Revival architecture. As you approach the mansion, you will greeted by Bacchus, the God of Wine & fertility. The grand façade is adorned with intricate stonework and iron details, this is the West Loggia. Inside, the opulence continues with rooms filled with antique furniture, tapestries, and decorative arts from the 16th to 19th centuries. Each room tells a story, taking visitors back to an era of lavish lifestyles and exquisite taste

West Entrance Loggia

I typed Chattanooga and clicked ” Things to do ” and it gave me everything I need. I learned about the Raccoon Mountain Caverns upon reading reviews, which I am so excited to visit. The Telephone
Imagine Jame Deering using this phone in his time..I read he was one of the very first to have a telephone line in Miami, elevator and alarm system in his mansion.
Living Room

The villa is surrounded by 10 acres of meticulously landscaped gardens, adorned with fountains, sculptures, and manicured hedges that evoke the elegance of European palaces. The striking façade, with its grand entrance and intricate stonework, overlooks Biscayne Bay, providing a breathtaking backdrop that enhances the estate’s allure. The South Loggia Entrance

The Balcony

The Barge
The Barge was built in 1916 from reinforced cast concrete and clad in native coral stone sourced during the construction of Vizcaya. It has three main functions.

It was used as a leisure place by industrialist James Deering in the early 20th century to entertain his guests and could only be accessed by gondola. The barge is designed in a classical style and showcases intricate craftsmanship. It served as a picturesque element in the estate’s waterfront landscape, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the museum’s gardens and reflecting the grandeur of the Gilded Age. It is a work of art, featuring commissioned sculptures by Alexander Stirling Calder, a prominent sculptor of the late 19th century, the statue you see in the middle. And it serves as a breakwater built to protect the estate from storms.
This is perhaps my most favorite place in the whole Vizcaya Museums. I took time to feel the breeze, walk around, take pictures that I ended up missing
On the left side of the stone barge is the boat landing and on the right side is the Tea House. On the right side of the balcony facing Biscayne Bay is the semicircular pool.
The Tea Room

The Secret Garden
The Secret Garden at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a serene, hidden space that offers a tranquil escape within the estate. Surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant flowers, it features winding paths, unique sculptures, and intimate seating areas. This garden showcases a blend of European and Mediterranean influences, embodying the romantic spirit of the early 20th century. It’s a perfect spot for quiet reflection, enhancing the overall charm of Vizcaya’s expansive gardens.
The garden is so beautiful and you can spend hours here but did not get the chance to walk around as my partner in crime got lightheaded and most of my pics since then were selfie which didn’t really turned out well lol..

The Second Floor
The second floor of Vizcaya Museum features James Deering’s private living quarters, showcasing his luxurious lifestyle. This area includes beautifully appointed bedrooms, a library, and a stunning terrace, his breakfast room, kitchen and pantry on the south gallery. The design reflects a blend of European styles with intricate details and rich furnishings.
It also consists of 9 guest bedrooms and each designed differently.

From the Parking Lot
By the way, make sure you wear a comfortable clothing and shoes. There is a little bit of a ways of walking from the parking and the ticket booth to the main entrance as shown in the picture behind me. The steps is upslope/downslope.

And don’t miss out the famous Versailles Restaurant, the world’s famous cuban restaurant according to their website. They don’t accept reservation and they are always full but really worth a visit.
If you want to skip the line check Tiqets if the place you are visiting has “skip the line” feature.
Don’t miss the Wynwood Walls, where colorful street art transforms the neighborhood. These attractions offer a blend of culture, nature, and entertainment, perfect for any visitor. I enjoyed Wynwood so much. One of the places I enjoyed so much because I love murals.
