Spring Adventures at St. Pete Pier: From Pier Strolls to Night Lights

Welcome to St. Pete, Florida!
St. Pete FL – Nestled on Florida’s Gulf Coast, St. Pete—is a vibrant city bursting with art, sunshine, and a laid-back coastal charm that’s impossible to resist. Known for its award-winning beaches, thriving arts scene, and warm weather year-round, St. Pete is the kind of place where you can stroll from an art museum to a beachside café without ever losing sight of the ocean. Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway, springtime stroll, or full-on Florida photo adventure, this city serves vibes on every corner. The vibe is always vibing in St. Pete!!

St. Pete Pier
There are lots of things to do in St. Pete Pier from stunning skyline views to street performers and seafood with a breeze, St. Pete Pier isn’t just a destination—it’s an experience. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or just a local coming back for the nth time(guilty!), this place always finds a way to surprise you. And let’s be honest, half the fun is walking down the pier in your cutest outfit and pretending it’s your runway.

Lately, St. Pete has become one of my favorite places to explore, and I’ve made it a goal to visit all the museums. We’ve experienced the St. Pete Pier both during the day and at night, and if time allows, I highly recommend coming in the late afternoon. That way, you get the best of both worlds—the golden hour glow and the stunning night lights that bring the Bending Arc and The Pier Pavilion to life.
Myth (Red Pelicans Sculpture)
Spotted near the entrance of the St. Pete Pier is a bold 10-foot red sculpture of two pelicans perched atop an origami-style base—aka “Myth” by Nathan Mabry. Installed as part of St. Pete’s public art collection, finally naming the brown pelican as city’s official bird in 2020. This geometric beauty brings a playful pop of color and whimsy to the scene. It’s a hit for selfies and totally unexpected. Because who doesn’t love giant red pelicans casually chilling at the pier?

Solar Canopy Feature
One of the coolest (and greenest) features of the St. Pete Pier is the solar canopy walkway. Designed by Brilliant Harvest, these sleek structures do more than just cast photogenic shadows—they’re actually producing clean, renewable energy for the pier.

Each of the two canopies is home to 221 Florida-manufactured solar panels, which together produce approximately 134.8 kW of clean power. That’s enough energy to help power parts of the pier sustainably while you’re out there snapping pics and soaking in the views. The solar canopies are a perfect blend of function and style—eco-friendly and totally Instagrammable. ☀️
The Bending Arc ( Temporarily Closed )
After snapping a few photos under the famous The Bending Arc sculpture (pro tip: it looks gorg at golden hour), we took a moment to really appreciate its story. Created by artist Janet Echelman in 2020, The Bending Arc is a massive aerial net sculpture measuring 76 feet at its tallest point and stretching 428 feet wide. It’s made from a custom fiber that moves with the wind, giving it a dreamy, ever-changing presence against the sky. The piece was commissioned as part of the new pier’s revitalization and cost approximately $1.5 million. It’s not just a visual masterpiece—it’s a powerful tribute to social progress, named after a quote by Theodore Parker: “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.“

At daytime, it just looks like a simple net suspended in the sky—but wait until golden hour or nightfall. That’s when it transforms into something truly magical.

At nighttime, it’s a whole different story—it lights up beautifully and delivers the full effect. Absolutely gorgeous and totally worth seeing after dark.

There are beach chairs around the arc that you can sit on to admire the colorful arc or just to simply sit and rest.

Glazer Family Playground
If you’re bringing the kiddos (or you just love a colorful, happy vibe), the Glazer Family Playground is a must-visit! It’s a vibrant, modern play space packed with climbing structures, slides, and splash features to cool off. Perfect for families or even just a quick nostalgic moment—it’s right next to the Bending Arc and gives major springtime joy.

Spa Beach ( St. Pete Pier Beach )
One of the most underrated gems of the St. Pete Pier is the cozy little beach tucked along the side. With soft sand, clear views of the water, and palm trees lining the edges, it’s the perfect spot to kick off your shoes and soak in those Florida vibes. Whether you’re lounging under the sun or catching golden hour glow, this beach gives you a front-row seat to one of the most scenic spots in the city. It’s peaceful, picture-perfect, and 100% worthy.

Majeed Foundation Coastal Thicket
Here you can enjoy walk, run or bike. The boardwalk is ADA-compliant and it stretches from North Pavilion all the way to the Pier Point.

Walking the Pier at Night
We headed toward the end of the pier just as the sun was setting. The view of downtown St. Pete lit up behind us and the calm bay stretching out in front? Chef’s kiss. As the sky darkens, the pier transforms—lights flicker on, casting a soft glow along the walkway, and the whole place takes on a peaceful, almost magical vibe. It’s the kind of spot where you slow your pace, breathe in that salty air, and just enjoy the beauty of the night.

The Pier Point
At the very end of the pier stands the stunning Pier Point, a sleek modern building that’s both a destination and a vibe. It’s home to Pier Teaki (yes, that iconic rooftop tiki bar with all the views), Driftwood Café on the ground floor, and plenty of spots to chill, snack, or just soak in the scenery. Whether you’re catching breezes upstairs or enjoying a quieter moment below, the Pavilion ties the whole pier experience together with a dash of coastal cool.

Pier Teaki, Teak & Cafe Driftwood
We popped up to Pier Teaki for the views (because rooftop + tiki vibes = instant yes), and let me tell you—the scene was chef’s kiss. We didn’t eat there this time, but it’s officially on the Laterz Squad radar for next round. Shrimp tacos and coconut mojito? We see you. 👀🍤🍹

Olnetopia Structure
Located near the Pier Point, Olnetopia is a striking bronze sculpture by Belgian artist Nick Ervinck. With its flowing, water-like form and unique patina finish, the piece feels both futuristic and organic. Ervinck describes it as being inspired by hollowed rocks and wild waters—symbolizing the dynamic power of life. It’s meant to offer visitors a warm, energetic welcome as they step into the heart of the Pier.

Bayfront Health Tiled Lawn
The Bayfront Health Tilted Lawn delivers the perfect wind-down moment. Whether you’re laying back on the grassy slope, people-watching, or soaking in the breeze from the bay, this peaceful spot is ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring. Sometimes, the best way to end your visit is by doing absolutely nothing—just you, the view, and that calming Florida air.

If you haven’t been yet, let this be your sign. And if you have? You already know it’s worth going back. Stay tuned for a full photo diary and more St. Pete faves—because this city is serving blog content on every corner. Mwaaahh!😘
